BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has voiced serious concerns regarding the violent assault by what he describes as the “terrorists of the Awami fascist government” on the NCP’s previously scheduled ‘March to Gopalganj’ event in Gopalganj.
In a statement released today, the Secretary General of the BNP asserted, “Following the collapse of the Awami regime characterised by its dictatorial tendencies during the student-public movement, certain miscreants have resumed their efforts to foster instability in the nation, seeking to profit from the ensuing chaos.”
“Today, the violent assault on the NCP’s previously scheduled event in Gopalganj, the explosion of crude bombs, the arson targeting UNO and law enforcement vehicles, and the injuries sustained by police officers highlight the troubling actions of miscreants,” he stated.
Fakhrul has expressed concerns over the severe decline in law and order, stating that the Awami allies are now emboldened to instigate chaos in the nation, thereby placing the interim government in a challenging predicament and exploiting the situation.
A strong hand is the only option to manage these miscreants, he suggested.
To ensure the establishment of democracy and safeguard the right to vote, thereby preventing the resurgence of fascism in the nation, it is imperative that individuals from all walks of life, irrespective of their political affiliations or beliefs, unite in the defence of the lives and property of their fellow citizens, he stated.
We must maintain our unity. “If not, the nation will once more confront challenges to safeguard its independence and sovereignty,” he stated.
The BNP Secretary General has issued a statement demanding the swift arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the attack on the NCP’s previously scheduled program in Gopalganj.
The injured police members received well-wishes for a swift recovery.
